Last week our guest speaker was Keith Maxwell from Rotary Club of Noble Park, who runs the organisation called "Ongoing Change" - a volunteer group who deal with Stress and Anger Management. The organisation runs group programs for those who find that they need to change the ways they act when anger, frustration, helplessness, depression, or inability to cope rises, or who need to consider possibility that they could make changes in their lives and in their relationships. I would like to thank Keith for coming to our club and for giving a great presentation on a very relevant social issue and want to congratulate him for changing the lives of so many people.
It was great to welcome Courtney to our club last week. I would like to congratulate her for being selected as one of the exchange students who will be heading to Brazil next year. On behalf of the Rotary Club of Footscray, I wish her good luck for her future endeavour. I am sure she will be our true ambassador and will make her parents, community, Australia and all Rotarians proud. Thank you Emanuel for bringing her along to share her story with us. Also thank you for being supportive and helping these students in their journey.
Roger Batrouney, Margaret Batrouney, Bob Newman, George Kerry (Jnr) and myself attended the event ‘Night for Vietnam’, for Vietnam Dental Health Project, on 28th of September in West Footscray. It was my honour to represent our club on that great fund raising event. As you all aware the project started in 1991 and since then each year Dr. Jamie Robertson, a proud member of our great club, takes a team of professionals including general dentists, specialists, dental assistants and allied personnel to Vietnam and spends two weeks doing voluntary work in the city and countryside and lps to educate many people including children in dental heath related problems. We all enjoyed the night including the delicious food, music, magic etc. Suong and Jamie did an excellent job in organising and managing the event and I would like to congratulate them both.
On Sunday, 29 th of September, I attended the cluster meeting at Flemington. All the club presidents and AG Peter Harris were present and we discussed many issues including clubs’ progress/issues, Cluter Project, Matching grant, Club citation award, District conference etc. Denis O’Brien, President of Rotary Club of West Footscray has proposed the concept of a fundraiser in the form of a “Longest Lunch” at the Whitten Oval; the details are yet to be finalised.
Also a reminder for our Club Vision Program for 26th October which will be held at Footscray Hockey Club: McIvor Reserve, Fogarty Avenue, Yarraville and the program will start at 8.30 am and conclude at 12.30. There is a detailed article inside the bulletin, please read the article and let PDG John Davis, Rodney Johnston or myself know if you are attending. I request all the members to make an effort to attend that event. It will certainly be an interesting program for our club and I am looking forward to participate in it.
Please enjoy your week, stay connected and work hard and let's together reshape our society, our world better.
