Ejanul's Message, 14 November 2013

We enjoyed last week’s presentation by our exchange student  Marlene. Many thanks to Marlene for sharing her story with us. I would also like to congratulate her on her excellent presentation. We have all witnessed her progress over the past months and are proud of  achievements. On behalf of the Rotary Club of Footscray, I wish her good luck for her future endeavours and am sure she will enjoy a memorable stay in Australia. I believe she will be a fine ambassador and will make her parents, the community and all Rotarians proud.

Thank you Emanuel for sharing some of the humorous moments you have experienced when working with exchange students. Additionally, a big thank you for helping and supporting these students during their stay with us.

November is “Foundation Month”. The mission of the Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty. Please note, PDG John Wigley, District 9800 Foundation Chair, will be visiting our club this week and will be our guest speaker. We will have the opportunity to learn more about Rotary Foundation and its role in bringing peace to the world through Rotary.

On Monday, 11th November, we had our October Board meeting. Many fruitful discussions took place including initiatives, goals and projects. Club vision, community initiatives, local and international projects through our club, cluster clubs and the District/Foundation were also discussed.

A club assembly will be held on 12th December, and a summary of the club vision findings etc., will be presented to our members by PDG John Davis and myself. Joanna Attard, Community Engagement Officer, with the Maribyrnong City Council came to our board meeting and spoke to us about next year’s Australian Day celebration and our club’s possible participation in it. It will give our members an opportunity to meet with many new people including different community leaders and to talk to them about our club’s activities/projects etc. I would like to thank Joanna for briefing us about the event.

Our club’s Christmas Dinner Party will be held on 5th December. Please voice your ideas for the night, in order to make it a grand success. You may pass on your ideas to our program chair Bob Newman.

Please enjoy your week, stay connected and work hard and let's together reshape our society, and make our world a better place to be in.
