Another week has quickly flown by. Incredibly, we are in the final month of summer and what a summer it has been! During much of December, it seemed as if the cool winter-like days were all we would see of summer. January was almost the complete opposite, where we experienced many days of 40+ degrees. Now with the advent of February, the hot days coupled with strong winds, has set the scene for what many feared would happen. We are again faced with the tragedy of bushfires.
Thankfully, to date, no one has perished as a result of the fires, nevertheless, our hearts go out to those who have lost their homes, their pets and the irreplaceable personal mementos that are priceless to each individual.
Last week’s speaker, Pete Jensen, gave an excellent talk about something that seems to elude too many people, ‘Happiness’! Pete is a member of the Brighton Beach Rotary Club and as well as writing books about positivity, he is a professional motivational presenter, employed by large corporations and government departments. He commented that it is important to set some goals each day such as: doing something positive for yourself and something positive for somebody else. Thank you Pete, for taking the time to give us such an inspiring speech.
Members, please note that George Kerry Snr is going into a nursing home this week and our thoughts are with him and his family.
