It is with great sadness that I am sharing the news that our dearest friend George Kerry (sr.) passed away on Monday 17th of February at Lynch’s Bridge Nursing Home. During the time of his last journey Sika, George (Jnr) and their other children were present by his side. I have spoken to George (Jnr) and passed on condolences on behalf of our club.
Funeral arrangements have been made as follows:
Date: 21st February (Friday)
Venue: Holy Protection Cathedral, 3-7 Albion Street (Cnr. Harrison St.), Brunswick East
Yesterday, I requested Rodney to let you all know the sad news and send a condolence message to the Kerry family on behalf of our club as I was not available at that time. Thank you so much Rodney for everything you did yesterday.
Once again, I extend my sincere condolences on behalf of our club to Sika, George (Jnr) and all the extended family members. We, the members and friends of the Rotary Club of Footscray, will miss our dearest friend George Kerry (Snr) and our prayers will always be with him and his family. He was one of our most regular members and contributed to the club in so many ways. The Rotary club of Footscray will miss his presence always.
Personally, it’s very devastating news for my family and myself as George was a very good friend of ours and we have many great memories of him. We were introduced to Rotary family by him nearly 7 years ago and we treated him as a parent; he will be forever missed in our family. To us, George was a true gentlemen and we will miss his wonderful smile and great sense of humour.
My friend George (Jnr), I understand your feelings and the difficulties you and your family are going through. I lost my father five years ago and I understand how difficult it is to accept the sudden loss of a family member, especially the parent. George (Jnr), you have to be very strong at this time and should take care of yourself, your mother, your sisters and other family members. I know you are a very strong man and you are a big support to your family. Our prayers will be with you and your family.
