It was good to hear from our guest speaker Stan Gorr about Interplast, last week. “For 30 years, Interplast has worked in 25 countries and implemented over 600 surgical and allied health medical program activities across the Asia Pacific region. It provides free reconstructive surgery for patients who would otherwise not be able to afford access to such services. It also gives training to the local medical personnel by building their capacity to act independently. Interplast supported over 70 surgeons and nurses to continue part of their training in Australia, sent over 600 volunteers on medical programs, provided over 37,000 consultations and performed over 21,000 life-changing operations.”

On Saturday (17th May) we had our sausage sizzle at Bunnings, Highpoint, for the first time in this Rotary year. It was a steady day throughout and it was good to see many new faces. I want to thank Bunnings, Highpoint management for giving us the opportunity to fundraise through their sausage sizzle initiative. Also, a big thank to Rodney, Kevin, Ron, Darcy and our members who gave their precious time during the weekend to help man the sausage sizzle. Many thanks to Tina, Ellie and Melanie for their help and support.

Along with PP Maria (AGE), President Elect Graeme and 5 other members of our club, Emanuel, Bob, Peter, Jama and Kevin; I attended 2014 District Assembly event on Sunday May 18 at Tabcorp Park, Melton. It was good to see our exchange student Marlene as well. There were around 450 Rotarians attending the assembly. The President of the host club, the Rotary Club of Melton and District Governor Ross Butterworth welcomed the guests. District Governor Elect Murray Verso officially inaugurated the proceedings. There were many District Dignitaries and the District Training team who participated in different sessions and presentations throughout the seminar. District Governor Elect Murray Verso introduced his team for 2014-15 and RI President Gary Huang’s message and the theme of the year “Light Up Rotary” were played.

I attended the sessions on International Services, Foundation and Presidents’ feedback. It was great to meet many Rotarians and catch up with many Rotary friends.

Please stay connected and let's together reshape our society, our world better.
