Welcome to the month of November, which is Rotary International’s ‘Foundation Month’. The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health*, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty. The Rotary Foundation helps fund humanitarian pro- jects, from local service projects to global initiatives.
Our own initiative, which complements* the mission of Rotary Foundation, is The Rotary Health Research Dinner , Thursday, 19th November (refer to flyers attached) which aims at raising funds for diabetes. Past President Graeme has expended much time and effort in organising this event. Bookings close this Friday, so please secure your place by booking on-line today!
Our Annual General Meeting will be held at a lunch-time meeting on Thursday, 26th November. Please note this in your diary and hopefully you will be able to attend.
I am writing in place of President Angus, as he had an unforeseen emergency this evening, although I have been informed that all is well.
Peter and I, together with family and friends, spent the Melbourne Cup long weekend visiting Cairns. If you have never been there...GO!!! There is so much to see, do and take part in. As well as white water rafting, we had fun snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef, watched crocodiles leap for food making loud ‘SNAPS’ with their jaws, chilled out at the swimming pool, ate great food, laughed, chatted and thoroughly enjoyed our time. I have included some photographs from our white water rafting endeavours.
When we returned home, our dogs were beside themselves with joy...such loyalty is so heart-warming! Nevertheless, I was also absolutely delighted to see and cuddle them. We are exceedingly fortunate to have Janice who stays at our place when we are away and Mick who always checks and feeds our horses.
Whatever you do,
Have a great week,
for President Angus
