Dear Rotarians and Friends
This is my last Bulletin message for this year. I have enjoyed penning them and thanks to Diane McGrath for making our Bulletin a reality.
The first six months of my Presidency has really flown by so quickly and we are only 10 days away from Christmas, but there is still much to achieve so I look forward to the challenge of 2016.
Last Friday evening I was a guest of Gateway Social Support Options. The occasion was their Annual Christmas function and it was held at the Yarraville Club. At this function they recognised the members of their club who have donated so much of their time on a voluntary basis towards assisting the older members of our Community with food and transport to various social events. They even arranged a fishing trip to the bay. Clubs like Gateway could not possibly exist without volunteers. Funding is getting harder to get and they rely on sponsorship from local businesses and the Council.
It was nice to see our very own Elizabeth Drozd at the function, together with Hugh Stewart, President of Flemington Rotary and his wife Glenda. I have extended an invitation to them to join us at our final meeting on the 17th December 2015 together with our Assistant Governor, Colin Styles and his wife June and our District Governor, Julie Mason. The importance of recognition is vital to any organisation, particularly where there are volunteers and Rotary is certainly no exception. I believe we recognise each other’s efforts in many faceted ways and I must say, that most members of our club are real Doers and I am very appreciative of the support I receive from you all.
Membership growth is still a great concern of mine and again I appeal to all members to think of just one person you could nominate as a possible invitee to our Club. Finally a reminder that our first meeting for 2016 will be on the 21st January and it will be an evening meeting.
Finally, to all my fellow Rotarians and your families I wish you a Joyous Christmas and a prosperous and
healthy year ahead. Once more, thanks for your involvement in our Rotary Club.
You are all a gift to the world.
Your president Angus
