Dear Rotarians and Friends,
What great news, the bestowing of an O.A.M on our very own Lawrence Atley. May I say that it is well deserved and congratulations to Lawrence for the recognition for your service to Rotary and mankind. Many of your life hours have gone into achieving what you have.
Last week’s evening meeting was not well attended and it was disappointing as Philip had organised a great couple of speakers from Latitude. This is an organisation that has a mentoring program for homeless young men. It is conducted once a year and it gives disadvantaged youth the chance to see life and its opportunities from a different perspective. From the rudderless life in some cases they have been living to one with purpose and direction.
At the club we were greeted with a brand new motorised projector screen and projector which we christened. It’s a great tool that makes visual presentations so much more enjoyable. Thanks to Tony Juric for its implementation.
Also last Thursday we inducted Kathy Krawec as an official Rotarian. I am looking forward to her continuing input into club affairs. One area we must focus on is the addition of new members to our
club. I think we should create an invitation night for prospective new members. I will be putting this to our next board meeting for consideration.
I have advised you all of the passing of Carol Castano’s father. A very sad occasion for Carol but one that will now unburden her. We’re all thinking of you Carol and pass on our condolences on your loss.
Finally time is marching on and the closing date for registration to the Bendigo conference is Sunday 31st January. Don’t miss this great event.
